Root Beer Float Cake

 

1      pkg. German chocolate cake mix

1-1/4 C root beer (not diet)

¼     C vegetable oil

2      large eggs

 

        Combine ingredients and beat at medium speed with electric mixer.  Pour into a greased and floured 9” x 13” pan.  Bake at 350 degrees for about 30-35 min or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.  Serve with a scoop of ice cream and chocolate-root beer syrup.

 

Chocolate-root beer Syrup

 

In a saucepan, wisk together:

 

2      T unsweetened cocoa

1      C sugar

 

Stir in:

 

1/3    C root beer

2      T white corn syrup

1      T melted butter

 

        Bring to a gentle boil over low heat.  Boil no more than 5 min.  Remove from heat and stir in 1 t vanilla.

 

        Sauce can be reheated in microwave.
