Jewish Coffee Cake

 

2      cups sugar
1/2    lb of butter or margarine     
4      eggs add 1 at a time  
3      cups of flour      
1      pint sour cream  
2      tsp baking soda 
1 ½   tsp baking powder
2      tsp vanilla                                 


Cream sugar and butter, add the four eggs 1 at a time. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda alternating flour with sour cream. Add vanilla. 


Grease oblong pan 9 x 13 or I used a tube pan

 

In another bowl mix together 2 tsp of cinnamon, 1 cup chopped walnuts and 1/2 cup of sugar.

 Put half on top of half of the batter and half on top.  I think when you put nut mixture on top you should press it in a little bit.  I lost a lot of nuts when I cut it.

 

Bake at 350 degrees for about 50 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean

 

If you want icing mix about a cup of confectionery sugar with a little milk and vanilla and put on warm cake.
