45 Minute Chocolate Cake

 

Sift into large bowl:

2      C sugar

2      C flour

 

Combine and bring to a boil:

1      C butter or margarine

1/3    C Hershey’s cocoa

1      C water

 

Pour over sugar and flour (Do not cool!)

 

Add:

˝     C buttermilk (if you don’t have buttermilk take ˝ C milk and add 1T white vinegar)

2      eggs

1      t baking soda

1      t vanilla

 

        Mix then pour into greased cookie pan, (3/4” – 1” deep).  Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.

 

Frosting:  5 minutes before cake is done, cook to boiling:

 

˝     C butter or margerine

1/3    C Hershey’s cocoa

6      T milk

 

        Remove from heat and add:

1      lb. or 4 C powdered sugar

1      t vanilla

 

        Beat until smooth and pour over hot cake.
