Betty’s Overnight French Toast

 

1      loaf French bread

8      eggs

3-1/2 C milk

˝     C sugar

1      t vanilla

1      can apple pie filling

 

Topping:

3      t cinnamon

1      t nutmeg

˝     C sugar

2      T butter

 

        Slice bread into 1.5” slices and place in grease 9” x 13” pan.  Beat eggs,, milk, sugar and vanilla together.  Pour half evenly over bread.  Spread apple filling over bread, then pour remainder of egg mixture.  Mix first three topping ingredients together and sprinkle over top.  Dot with 2 T butter.  Cover and refrigerate overnight.  Bake at 350 degrees for 1.5 hours, uncovered.  Allow to set 10 minutes before cutting.              Serves 6
